How do I know that my dog Coco belongs to me? Well he snuggles with me most of the day. He sits at my feet watching me. He comes when I call his name. When a stranger approaches me he goes into a crazy protective mood. He does not like strangers approaching me. He sometimes runs chasing things but he always comes back to me. When he wants something or needs something we comes to me winning. So basically I can tell Coco belongs to me because of his actions, how he behaves and the fruit. I am pretty sure that if someone was to snatch my dog Coco away he would still belong to me. For he can be taken away but he can never truly be stollen. Coco may be led astray but he will always belong to me.
“Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.” 1 John 3:7-10
The devil is a master of confusion, deceit, lies and conflict. He is a master at leading us astray. It is exactly what he does. It is how he operates. This has caused a certain amount of fear or panic within me. But this passage is a reminder that God is so much bigger than the devils schemes. He may try to led us astray but he can never take the seed planted within me. He may led me astray but he can never steel me. For when I become lost, there I will be found. For I am God’s child and others will know me as God’s child by my fruits. Furthermore the places within me not bearing fruit or producing bad things, those will be ripped to shreds by Jesus so that I am completely and utterly his. What a promise I have in my Jesus. Do you belong to Jesus?
