One of the reasons I fell in love with Jesus was his servants heart. I have meet so many people in life that are just seeking to be number 1. I have been this person myself. We all want to win. We all want to be at the top. We all want the spot light. Similarly we tear each other down in order to obtain it. I am guilty. I have done this without realizing it. We want glory, acknowledgment, reward and praise. I have never meet a child who did not want praise. Furthermore there is a part of us that needs attention. If we never get any attention then this lack of positive stimulation leads to emotional issues. People need love, acknowledgment and attention to have a healthy self esteem. Similarly some people are just born leaders. It is part of there personality. They feel most comfortable leading. They do not hand over the rains to others easily.
I think Jesus was most likely a born leader. He was fully capable of concurring the world. He could have been anything he wanted. People marveled at his wisdom. They praise his miracles. There were many who wanted to make him political leader and king. He could have done it if he wanted. But Jesus said no to all of that and chose to be a forever servant.
“Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
Our society often glorifies the head, the leaders, the people in the spot light but it is the forever servant that truly deserves the most praise. Who in your life do you see as a forever servant? Maybe we should aspire to be a little more like them. Maybe we should acknowledge their work and praise them a little more because they are the ones that are worthy of praise. How can you work to be a little more like Jesus the forever servant?
