My husband and I decided to take a last minute trip for the weekend. We packed our bags. One of my little dogs barked at me the entire time, afraid that I would leave him behind. He wanted to go with us. He always wants to go with us. When I opened the back door to start loading the car he made a run for it. Out the door he went. I picked up the bags to load the car and he went running down the street. I called after him but he was not listening. He was NOT being obedient. I could hear him yelling Freedom in his doggy head.
My little dog seems to love me. He seems to believe in me and he seems to want to follow me but at the first chance he gets he runs away. He is not obedient at all. So does he really believe me? Does he really trust me?
This is the vision I have of us humans and Our God. Jesus says in John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not OBEY the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” For many of the Pharisees believed in Jesus but did not obey him. Satan and the demons believe in Jesus but do not obey him. If you only believe Jesus is the son of God but you do not obey him them maybe we are just like my dog. He pretended to want to go on the trip with me but in the end he ran away. That being said it is never to late to turn back and be obedient. It is never to late for my little dog to be obedient and jump in the car with me. It’s not to late for you and me either. Amen
