A Love Note

Have you ever received a love note from someone? What did it make you feel like? What about from God? Have you ever received a love note from God?

I have received various gifts from God but the ones I hold most dear are the love notes. I listened to a song today that I have never heard before that I felt was written to me. It was both a little heart breaking but incredibly moving to know that after 20 years of a relationship with God he can still romance me.

This was a good reminder that God loves, cares and never forgets. For even when I do not remember all my prayers over the years, God remembers all the spoken and unspoken ones. God himself is love. The very definition of love.

When I was younger I did not understand what love truly meant. I actually told someone that in order to love others I would have to first receive God’s love. For you can read about love but it is not until you experience it that you know what love means.

The first love of my life was Jesus. He will always be my first love. Others have given me love through the years but honestly their love is only an imitation to Jesus’s perfect love.

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” 1 John 4:19-21

So to those who think “I need a little love,” may God send you a love note to remind you of his love for you. And to all may we be God’s messengers of love to others. Amen
