When I was a young gymnast one of the things that lead me to accept Christ as my Lord and savor was my coach and her daughter. It was not anything they told me. Furthermore, I accepted Christ sitting on my bed by myself with my bible in hand. I did not even know the story of Adam and Eve. I hardly even understood the story of Jesus’s death on the cross. So what did it for me? It was that I could tell my coach and her daughter were different. So what was different about them. It was love. I could see it in the way they acted, for they loved God but they also felt loved by God. It was like a tangible light. I could see how even during painful times they had joy. Furthermore I felt loved and accepted by them in a way no one else ever had.
So how did I come to Christ. I saw the real tangible love of Christ through my coach and her daughter and the Jesus did the rest. For he can overcome all barriers.
So at the tender age of 12 I sat on my bed and told God I did not know who he was but that I wanted to know him. I told him I was lonely and I read John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” I told Jesus I wanted that life. And the rest is history. It’s an adventure that I have NEVER regretted.
So thank you God for my coach and daughter who ignited a flame in me.
